Global Music

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

About the Program

The Global Music B.A. program was created out of the conviction that the musical diversity and traditions of the world should be recognized as equal. This diversity and its historical and current fusions can only be defined to a limited extent by geographical boundaries, but can be found both locally and in the digital space. The term "global music" refers primarily to global musical, economic, and social developments rather than to a musical category. The program is aimed at musicians with a keen interest in their own musical development in a global context. Tradition serves as a catalyst for new and individual creative ideas. Students deepen their musical skills in the music traditions offered as a focus and other popular music genres. The accredited program covers all areas of world music: classical and traditional music as well as connections with fusion, jazz, popular music, Western art music, and more. The artistic idea, its implementation, and credibility are at the heart of the program. It is aimed at creative and talented instrumentalists, singers, composers, ensemble leaders, and instrumental and vocal teachers. Majors include Microtonal and maqam-based music (bağlama, oud, kanun, vocal performance) and Percussion worldwide.
