Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

About the Program

The Bachelor's program in Photography focuses on photography as a central technical visual medium that is omnipresent and shapes our interaction with the world. In times of constant change in communication through social media and AI, the ability to independently formulate relevant questions is one of the fundamental challenges of democratic societies. The BA program in Photography teaches comprehensive technical skills from analog photography to post-photographic processes and extension through AI, theoretical expertise, and the ability to convey emotions and messages through visual means - from iconic single images to the interface of moving images in installations and videos. After a solid basic education in the first year through various modules in design, photo technology, and science, from the 3rd semester onwards, there are opportunities for specialization in the areas of photojournalism and still life, food, advertising, editorial, fashion, architecture, studio, and portrait photography, as well as artistic-conceptual photography. The use of AI, as well as necessary business and legal knowledge for starting a business, is taught as a key competence throughout the entire course of study in cross-program modules.
