About the Program

The class expanded cinema deals with media, public and virtual spaces. Through critical engagement with a visually and acoustically networked world, we respond to the growing automation and interconnectedness of social spaces and cognitive technologies. Our artistic education and research focuses on the advancement of the contemporary moving image, experimental narratives, and expansive installations. We are not limited to one language or medium. Students engage in hands-on, collaborative research supported by a variety of class activity: Class meetings and one-on-one discussions. Lecture series with guests on current issues and fundamental work practice. Film analysis. Research. Project development. Field trips. Exhibition design.
