EDITING MA

Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.)

About the Program

After students have explored and exercised the creative basics of editing in the B.F.A. program, they can choose to further develop their individual artistic approach in the consecutive Editing M.F.A. program. Students gain insight into the field of creative research and get the opportunity to focus on specific theoretical and practical aspects according to their individual interests. The program aims at allowing students to actively participate in the current discourse on artistic editing. The curriculum focuses on refining students' individual artistic approach through modules on research in artistic editing, exploring narrative-oriented filmic languages, linear and non-linear structures of communication, and developing styles beyond conventional genre limitations. The program includes study modules (Putting Editing into Context, Workshops, Current Tendencies, Editing Workshop), artistic research modules, project work spanning three semesters, and graduation modules (Artistic Graduation Project and Master's Thesis). Career Opportunities: M.F.A. graduates have the skills required to independently perform creative, artistic, and curatorial tasks in the field of film and media art. Depending on their individual preferences and specializations, graduates pursue editing careers in the fields of film, television, web, theater, events, or liberal arts.
