About the Program

Art history explores national and international artworks, their creation, their appearance, how they function, and the impressions they create. Its field of study encompasses the classical artistic media, architecture, graphics, handicrafts, painting, plastic arts and their theory. To some extent cross-media art forms and the mass media are studied as well. The discipline also examines epochs and genres ranging from the Middles Ages to the modern period to contemporary art.
