About the Program

Future challenges for efficient, safe, and environmentally-friendly shipping will require a smart combination of competencies for ship building and ship operation. This Bachelor’s programme implements an innovative approach based on the high standards of German engineering science. The Bachelor’s programme is focused on the growing demand for marine engineers in Indonesia, Asia and around the world. It was designed by Hochschule Wismar University of Applied Sciences and ITS Surabaya, both of which have a superb international reputation and the highest standards in higher maritime education. By combining the strengths of both, the universities have created a new outstanding programme for future marine engineers. The partners use the Polimarin Semarang, the former Semarang Growth Centre, a leading maritime education and training centre in Southeast Asia built in cooperation between the German and Indonesian governments. The entire study programme is held at ITS Surabaya with the support of four professors from Wismar University and several guest lecturers from the international maritime industry. The main benefits of the programme include: An excellent study programme in Indonesia followed by global employment opportunities The development of outstanding competencies and a high educational standard of marine engineering Alignment to the needs of industry and preparation for postgraduate studies
