About the Program

The Master in Digitalised Energy Systems addresses one of the greatest technological and societal challenges: the energy transition. The program focuses on the efficient, secure, and reliable digitalization of technical systems to integrate numerous unpredictable, fluctuating producers, consumers, storage facilities, and network components into a technically stable and financially viable overall system. Graduates possess a clear understanding of the fundamentals, principles, and methods of computer science and their applications in energy systems, with particular insight into methods, problems, and findings from the latest research in energy informatics. They can assess and appropriately apply methods for developing and analyzing the required system intelligence to solve problems. Graduates have in-depth knowledge of algorithms for adaptive control, regulation, and continuous dynamic optimization of the complex and extensive (European) power supply system, as well as creating overall system competence and orchestration. Graduates can identify and solve problems in emerging areas of energy informatics, apply innovative methods for problem-solving, develop complex energy informatics systems and data models, and evaluate tools and technologies appropriately. They possess project management skills, can work effectively in teams, communicate convincingly with users and experts, and can take on leadership roles. The program prepares graduates to work in various fields that promote the energy transition such as Smart Grid Engineering, Energy Management Analysis, Sustainable Transportation Engineering, Energy Data Analysis, Energy Consulting, and Energy Efficiency Program Management.
