About the Program

The MBA is aimed at university graduates from various disciplines who want to prepare specifically for a specialist or management position in the management of a digital or media company, or who aspire to work in other industries that require media and digital expertise (e.g. online marketing). The study program first lays the foundations with general and management-oriented courses. Through the different options for specialization tracks and projects, the studies then adapt to individual interests and development goals. Typical of an MBA is the high proportion of business administration subjects, which are complemented by media-related projects and coaching. A systematic quality assurance process and continuous development of the curriculum guarantee future-oriented and career-relevant content. Multi-month consulting projects for relevant digital and media companies or start-ups ensure systematic integration of practical experience and contribute to the expansion of an excellent industry network, as do the numerous contacts with lecturers and alumni. The program is conducted in cooperation with the Hamburg Media School. Professors and lecturers are specialists in their fields and come from different universities and from the practice of the digital and media industry. The admission and examination board of the program at the University of Hamburg appoints the examiners. The Hamburg Media School organizes the teaching and ensures proximity to the industry through corresponding extracurricular offerings. The program is accredited. The degree-awarding institution is the University of Hamburg. The degree entitles the holder to pursue a doctorate.
