About the Program
Dessau Summer School of Architecture develops its thematic focus from the relevance of Bauhaus Dessau in the history of architecture. Parts of the course are conducted within Bauhaus Dessau. At Dessau Summer School of Architecture, participants from different nations engage in an architectural dialogue exploring modernity in architecture. To this end, the components of the programme relate current developments in architecture and design to the history of modernity and to its physical evidence on site. Dessau Summer School of Architecture (in cooperation with the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation) starts with a workshop on Bauhaus Callisthenics. The subsequent studio project builds on this foundation and focuses on social, ecological, and sustainable strategies of building. The current programme will be available at https://dessarc.de/ starting in December 2025. An art class, an Architecture and Society class, a German language class, and excursions to historic and new locations of modern architecture in the region as well as trips to Berlin, Leipzig, and other cities will develop and deepen this focal point.
