Master of Music (M.Mus.)

About the Program

On the basis of a bachelor's degree, students may choose conducting as a master's degree program with concentrations in Orchestral conducting, choral conducting, and Correpetition (répétiteur). The university also offers an independent master's degree program in wind ensemble conducting. For the correpetition program, in addition to 90 minutes of individual instruction per week, the degree includes orchestral conducting, choral conducting, score playing, piano, voice, phonetics, teaching practice, and specialized theory instruction, plus optional chamber music and song accompaniment. Regular class sessions as well as staged rehearsals or individual rehearsals with singers for the college's opera projects supplement the practical training. The course aims at a professional career as a répétiteur or répétiteur with conducting duties at an opera house or festival.
