About the Program

The Communication Systems and Networks degree program offers students the opportunity to grasp and shape the complex interrelationships of modern and future communication systems and services. A special feature of the course is the holistic view of communication systems from the system level to the network level. The modules in the first semester convey detailed fundamentals on telecom systems and networks. Students choose one out of the four offered study profiles and select at least four modules from the corresponding catalog. By choosing between specialization profiles (including Communication Systems and Networks and Security), students have the opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge and skills in one of these areas. The program is characterized by practice-oriented, vocational training and is offered by the Institute of Computer and Communication Technology of the Faculty of Information, Media and Electrical Engineering at the TH Köln – University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the Department of Computer Science of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences at St. Augustin. The course provides a total of 90 ECTS points and is designed for a standard period of study of three semesters including the master's thesis.
