About the Program

The Biobased Products and Bioenergy Bachelor's program deals with how to replace fossil raw materials with renewable ones, how renewable energies and sustainable resources can be used efficiently, and how to convert biomass into innovative products. Students study at the interface of agricultural, natural, and engineering sciences and learn how innovative processes for the extraction and use of renewable raw materials and renewable energies are developed. The program aims to meet challenges such as climate change, scarcity of resources, CO₂ emissions, and plastic pollution by providing comprehensive knowledge of sustainable processes and technologies. The curriculum includes technical, plant cultivation, and economic fundamentals of cultivating and processing raw material and energy crops, with topics like process engineering, ecology, biotechnology, and plant sciences. Students can customize 40% of their studies according to their interests or choose from numerous specializations.
