BA 2 Bachelor Musik-PädagogikMusic Education

Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.)

About the Program

The Bachelor Music Pedagogy program combines excellent artistic training with educational offerings. Students develop their artistic and educational personality with their instrument or singing. For piano students, the program is structured into four main components: 1) Artistic Core Area and Degree, 2) Horizon and Projects, 3) Profile 1, and 4) Profile 2. The Artistic Core Area includes main instrument study (piano), class lessons, chamber music/song design, choir/vocal ensemble, and speaking. The program includes a compulsory profile in either 'Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy' or 'Music and Movement Pedagogy' for rhythmics with elementary music education. Students can choose a second profile (30 ECTS credits) from options such as conducting and ensemble conducting, inclusion and music-making practice, music theory and aural training, composition, music research or music design. The curriculum also includes modules in music theory, musicology, theoretical-scientific deepening, and instrumental and vocal pedagogy basics. The program spans 8 semesters with a total of 240 ECTS credits. This broad orientation prepares graduates for careers as music teachers at music schools or as freelancers.
