About the Program

The Master in Architecture is a consecutive, postgraduate course for graduates of the Bachelor in Architecture. Similar to the bachelor's degree, the design project is also the core of the master's degree. In the master's degree, the individual architectural abilities and interests of the students are the decisive factor. The focus is on demanding project-oriented and design-related work and at the same time research and development. The course includes a limited number of mandatory subjects, which must be successfully completed. The master's course focuses on resolving complex topics of the future relevant to architecture through 'future labs' where students pursue pressing subjects for the architectural profession and develop solutions using scientific and experimental methods. The program emphasizes climate change, digitalization, and social transformation as the major global challenges that architects must address in shaping the built environment of the future. The program structure offers increasing freedom of choice and flexibility as studies progress, requiring a high degree of personal responsibility. Each semester has a core monodisciplinary, cooperative, or cross-program/international design project worth 10 CP. In the 1st semester, four mandatory modules of 5 CP each are offered in the teaching areas of Design, Construction and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Building Economics and Construction Law. In the 2nd and 3rd semesters, students choose 6 out of 15 offered elective modules from four specialization areas, allowing them to study according to their individual interests.
