About the Program

Our Master's degree programme is aimed at all musical instrument makers who hold a Bachelor degree in Musical Instrument Making or who are a certified master craftsperson or a graduate from a related programme. This MA is also suitable for postgraduate students from various technical degrees such as media technology, electrical engineering, acoustics, audio engineering or mechanical engineering. Our Master's programme combines musical acoustics with modern technology through the use and analysis of lightweight design, alternative materials and reverse engineering technology. Students will also examine business models for small and medium sized companies as well as the methodology of academic research and dissertation writing. Alongside the compulsory modules, the following options are offered: acoustic sound technology; specialised restoration techniques; historical instrument making including the technologies used.
