If the Sperrkonto remains closed, do monthly deductions continue?
Yes, even if your Sperrkonto is closed (while you are in Turkey), 992 € per month will be automatically transferred — but this money is not "lost"; it either accumulates or is refunded.
Scenario 1: You Did Not Get a Visa, Sperrkonto Is Open
- After opening the Sperrkonto, your visa application was rejected or you cancelled it
- Money accumulates, you cannot withdraw it
- Solution: Apply for cancellation with Fintiba/Expatrio — full refund within 14 days (excluding visa fee)
- Account closure fee after 14 days: 30-50 €
Scenario 2: You Got a Visa, Did Not Come to Germany (Postponement)
- You did not come for 3-6 months after getting the visa
- The account remains "open," money is not automatically withdrawn at the beginning of the month (because you have not activated it)
- Money continues to stay in the account
- Solution: Inform Fintiba, the account will be put into "Wartestatus" (waiting mode)
Scenario 3: You Came to Germany, Activated Your Account
- In the first month, 992 € is transferred to your Girokonto
- Subsequent months are automatic (unless you cancel)
- Even if you return to Turkey, automatic transfers continue — you can receive money if your account in Germany is open
Scenario 4: Education Finished, You Returned to Turkey
- The remaining balance is refunded to your Turkish bank account or your Girokonto in Germany
- Refund fee: 30-50 € (international SWIFT commission)
Important Notes
- Sperrkonto annual management fee of 89 € (Fintiba) — deducted for 1 year even if no visa is obtained
- Is there interest? — Low interest (around 1-2%) at Solarisbank, none at Sutor Bank
- If the account remains inactive for 2 years, it becomes a "dormant account," and additional fees are deducted (5-10 €/month)
Practical Advice
- If your visa application is late or rejected → Send a cancellation message to Fintiba within 14 days (full refund)
- If you got a visa but are postponing → Ask Fintiba to put it in "waiting" mode, keep it free of charge
- The account will not be activated until you arrive in Germany — don't worry
