Can a non-resident open a German bank account?

✓ Answered · 1 min read · Community · 113 views

It's generally quite difficult for someone who doesn't reside in Germany to open a German bank account. Due to anti-money laundering laws, banks typically require a valid address and proof of residency in Germany to open an account. While there might be exceptions for some online banks or in very specific situations, this is a standard prerequisite for most traditional banks.
