Do you need to deregister your address when leaving Germany?
If you're permanently leaving Germany, it's a legal requirement to deregister your address, known as Abmeldung. You can usually complete this process shortly before you move by making an appointment at your local municipal office, or in some cases, you might be able to do it online.
