What is TestDaF?

TestDaF (Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache) is an internationally recognized standard German language proficiency exam. It is held six times a year and can be taken in Turkey at sessions organized by Goethe-Institut's.

Structure:

  • Reading comprehension (60 min)
  • Listening comprehension (40 min)
  • Written expression (60 min)
  • Oral expression (35 min, digital recording)

You receive TDN 3, TDN 4, or TDN 5 for each section. TDN 4 is sufficient for most Universitäten, while some programs (like medicine) require TDN 5.

What is DSH?

DSH (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang) is a German entrance exam organized internally by each Universität. This means a different format and location for each Universität you apply to.

General structure:

  • Written section (3-4 hours): reading, listening, grammar, writing
  • Oral section (15-20 min, ~1 week after the exam)

There are DSH-1, DSH-2, and DSH-3 levels. DSH-2 is the standard acceptance level.
