Even if I open a Sperrkonto, can I get a language course visa?
Opening a Sperrkonto is only one requirement for a visa, it does not mean acceptance on its own. Recently, the consulate has been strictly scrutinizing language course visas (§16f).
Sperrkonto + High Chance of Acceptance in These Situations
- You have a B1+ German certificate (Goethe, Telc, ÖSD)
- The course is 6+ months, 18+ hours per week, in-person
- Accredited language school (on the DSV list)
- Logical motivation letter — "why in Germany, why this school"
- Existing job/education ties in Turkey (trust in return intention)
- Receipt of course fee payment
You Can Be Rejected Even with a Sperrkonto in These Situations
- If you present the language course as a "shortcut to university entry"
- If you have a simultaneous conditional university admission letter (the consulate will ask "why not directly with §16b?")
- If your language level is below A1 and you don't have an answer for "why didn't you start in Turkey?"
- If you have a history of previous Schengen rejections
Let's Be Realistic
In the last 1-2 years, the §16f rejection rate is around 30-40%. Therefore, the community recommendation is:
If your goal is a master's/bachelor's degree, try for a direct academic visa (§16b) instead of a language course visa. Even with conditional admission, §16b is more accepted than §16f.
