How can I check the anabin status of my university in Türkiye?

✓ Answered · 2 min read · How-to · 29 views

Search for your university in anabin's "Institutionen" section to see its institution status (H+, H+/- or H-), then check your degree type separately under "Hochschulabschlüsse". Neither result is an admission or recognition decision.

Step by step

  1. Open anabin – Institutionen, choose Türkei as the country and search for your university.
  2. Read the institution status: H+ (regarded as a higher-education institution in Germany), H+/- (no single status for this institution type; assessed separately) or H- (not regarded as a higher-education institution).
  3. Then go to Hochschulabschlüsse → Abschlusstypen / Abschlüsse and look up your degree type (for example Lisans). You may see terms like "entspricht", "gleichwertig" or "bedingt vergleichbar".

How to read the result

  • H+ only means that degrees from the institution can undergo an equivalence assessment. It is not automatic admission, automatic recognition or a higher-education entrance qualification (HZB).
  • For a master's or PhD, the university checks your degree individually and decides; it may ask the ZAB for an assessment.
  • H codes do not apply to school certificates. For a Lise Diploması, anabin has a separate section: Schulabschlüsse mit Hochschulzugang

If your university is not listed

anabin is not complete. Binding information comes only from the competent Land offices, so ask the university you are applying to.
