Are you interested in medicine? Do you like to work with computers? Do you want to contribute to the design of information processing in the healthcare system and thereby optimise medical processes? Can you imagine yourself analysing problems in the healthcare system and in medical research utilising a structured approach and solving them together with doctors and computer scientists? Then the BSc degree programme Health Information Management offers you development opportunities: computer science, medicine, statistics, information research and documentation methods – these are the essential contents of this future-oriented study programme. In addition, you will learn to communicate in a success-oriented manner and to work scientifically, and you will get familiar with the basics of business administration and management. Your path to a career will be prepared in a practice-focused manner through projects, two intensive internship phases and application-oriented courses. Health documentation and information managers are sought after by pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, research institutes and other health care institutions. The career prospects are excellent and the demand is expected to increase in the future. The innovative study programme is rooted in 35 years of practical experience of the Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts in training health information specialists. Small learning groups, a pleasant learning atmosphere and good contact between lecturers and students characterise the study programme. The "Health Information Management" study programme is a special programme within the German university landscape. A wide range of employment possibilities await graduates. As health documentation and information managers, they will have a major responsibility, because the results of their work will be used to make further medical and business decisions. Therefore, in addition to the necessary professional qualifications, we at our university also promote the sense of responsibility of our students in a health-oriented professional environment. Without teamwork and communication skills, a successful professional career in health care professions is not possible – which is why we offer our students appropriate preparation.
