Über das Programm
The Joint Study Program in Law (Hamburg/Istanbul) is an integrated international program with a double degree. The program is conducted jointly by the Faculty of Law at the University of Hamburg and the Faculty of Law at Istanbul University. The aim of the program is to train students in the fields of German and Turkish law, including its foundations and connections to international law. The intercultural and comparative legal competence of the students is to be promoted and deepened. As the second university nationwide, the University of Hamburg enables up to 20 students per year to acquire the academic degrees 'Bachelor of Laws (LL.B)' and 'Hukuk Lisans' within eight semesters. Furthermore, there is the possibility to continue the studies until the acquisition of both legal state examinations. The program is divided into two study sections. The first study section takes place at the University of Hamburg, with four semesters of courses on civil law, criminal law and public law, as well as introductory courses and key qualification courses. In addition, special courses on Turkish law are already held in the third and fourth semesters. The third and fourth years of study are completed at Istanbul University. The study in Istanbul builds on the legal knowledge acquired in Hamburg. In addition to Turkish civil, criminal and public law, which is often oriented towards German and EU law, further courses with an international orientation are offered.
