École Européenne d'Ingénieurs en Génie des Matériaux EEIGM

The German-French double Bachelor's program EEIGM aims to enable students to solve technical and scientific problems using modern scientific and technical solution methods, building on scientific foundations. At the same time, the program provides early, practice-oriented professional qualification as an engineer in industry and business. In the six-semester Bachelor's program, students first receive solid basic training in the core engineering and natural science subjects. Skills for recognizing essential relationships in complex issues and knowledge in technical and theoretical applications are also developed. The program also emphasizes the teaching of professionally relevant key qualifications such as good communication and teamwork skills, the ability to independently familiarize oneself with new subject areas, and effective work organization. Students also acquire applied foreign language skills in French and English and intercultural competencies during a two-semester stay (in the 5th and 6th semesters) at the École Européenne d'Ingénieurs en Génie des Matériaux in Nancy. Graduates of the EEIGM program receive a Bachelor's degree from both Saarland University and the École Européenne d'Ingénieurs en Génie des Matériaux in Nancy. The complete program consisting of Bachelor's and subsequent Master's degrees is supported by the Franco-German University. The study is divided into two parts. The first part comprises semesters 1 to 4, which are studied at Saarland University. In this section, students acquire mathematical, scientific, and engineering fundamentals. Of the total 180 CP, 120 CP must be earned at Saarland University. The second part of the study comprises semesters 5 and 6, which students spend in Nancy at the École Européenne d'Ingénieurs en Génie des Matériaux. The structure and content of the studies are regulated by the École Européenne d'Ingénieurs en Génie des Matériaux. Of the total 180 CP, 60 CP including the Bachelor's thesis with 8 CP must be earned at the École Européenne d'Ingénieurs en Génie des Matériaux according to the regulations applicable there for the 5th and 6th semesters. In addition, successful completion of the program requires the completion of a professional practical activity of at least six weeks of basic practice and four weeks of specialized practice. It is recommended to complete the basic practice before starting the program.
